چکیده

The aim. Based on the analysis and comprehensive clinical neurological evaluation of results to substantiate effectiveness transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in treatment rehabilitation patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Methods. A total 110 MS were included study. control group consisted 30 who received pathogenetic therapy 80 underwent a course rhythmic (rTMS) together therapy.
Results. obtained during study indicate complex multifactorial nature fatigue its significant impact manifestations MS. Also, use rTMS reduced severity main symptoms improvement overall EDSS scale receiving was statistically significant: from 5.0±1.9 points 4.5±2.0 (p<0.01), comparison (p>0.05). Under influence TMS, gait function improved, but these indicators insignificant greatest effect also extended cognitive psychosocial components. patterns are confirmed SCA FS scales. Involvement allowed achieve reduction all components fatigue: 76.0±20.9 75.5±20.5 (p<0.05).
data confirm effectiveness, safety viability non-invasive neuromodulation by MS.
Conclusions. has positive fatigue, both motor cognitive, at types different stages progression. Non-invasiveness, ease use, possibility differentiated allow clinic become an important component active drug non-drug

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Cognition, and Multiple Sclerosis: An Overview

Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects cognition in the majority of patients. A major aspect of the disease is brain volume loss (BVL), present in all phases and types (relapsing and progressive) of the disease and linked to both motor and cognitive disabilities. Due to the lack of effective pharmacological treatments for cognition, cognitive rehabilitation and other nonpharmacological interventions s...

Transcranial magnetic stimulation: role in the evaluation of disability in multiple sclerosis.

BACKGROUND In patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has shown significant prolongation of central motor conduction time (CMCT). Abnormal CMCT may reflect sub-clinical involvement of motor pathways and correlate with clinical motor disability. OBJECTIVE To determine the diagnostic yield of TMS in MS and the possible correlation of TMS abnormalities with...

Cortical excitability of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: transcranial magnetic stimulation study.

OBJECTIVE The primary purpose of this study was to provide insight into the central changes that occur in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) with a view to understanding how these could contribute to symptoms. MATERIAL AND METHODS Seventeen patients with definite ALS and 17 control healthy volunteers were included in the study. Clinical examination, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis severity sco...

A transcranial magnetic stimulation study evaluating methylprednisolone treatment in multiple sclerosis.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the efficacy of two different high doses of intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) during Multiple Sclerosis (MS) relapses. BACKGROUND Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is the most sensitive neurophysiological ascertainment to quantify motor disability, to follow the recovery from an MS relapse, and to detect the response to treatment. DESIGN AND METHOD Twenty-...
